The things said here may seem so “everyday”, but in my experience these can mean a pass or not on the day that your Child takes the selective school test.
* Make sure your child knows their tables very well – it helps with speed
* Exam Techniques – many Children are flustered having written very few exams in their lives. This can be overcome by practice.
* Ensure that they know the layout of the paper/s, and how to answer them.
* Make sure they are eating a healthy diet, getting plenty of exercise, AND taking in a lot of fluid – keeps their brains hydrated.
* There are herbal tablets available to increase their concentration capacity – I cannot comment on effectiveness.
* They must sleep enough!
More useful tips (and I will add more every week)
*** Children must read – not just anything but the classics like “Alice in Wonderland”. It is a different style of English which children need to get used to. If they read frequently they will increase their speed meaning they stand a better chance to complete reading the text in the exam.
